Scratch removal
Inspect first, then correct.
Scratch assessment and controlled paint correction at AVP Autopflege near Zurich, with a clear distinction between polishable marks and damage requiring repair.
Scratch removal
Understand the scratch before correcting it.
A scratch can sit in the clear coat, reach the colour layer or cut through to primer. Those differences determine whether polishing, local correction or refinishing is the responsible answer.
We examine depth, location and surrounding paint before touching the surface. Where safe correction is possible, we reduce the defect with the least unnecessary paint removal.

When it fits
Depth and position determine the method.
Scratch correction is suited to defects that remain within a safely workable layer and can be improved without compromising the finish.
When wash marks interrupt the reflection.
Surface-level scratches and fine marks often respond well to controlled polishing.
When one area needs attention.
A local assessment can avoid unnecessary correction across otherwise sound paint.
When the depth allows it.
Measurement and visual inspection show how far a safe correction can reasonably go.
Process
From visible mark to clear decision.
The scratch is assessed first, then classified, corrected where possible and inspected under direct light.
Analysis
We inspect the scratch from several angles and check the affected paint system.
Classification
Depth, edge condition and available paint reserve define the realistic result.
Correction
Polishing or local micro-sanding is used only where the surface supports it.
Control
The area is checked under inspection light and the remaining limitation is explained.
Honest assessment
Not every scratch should be polished away.
Damage through the colour coat, sharp stone chips and exposed primer require repair or refinishing. Removing too much clear coat for a cosmetic promise would be the wrong trade-off.
If complete removal would weaken the paint, we recommend improvement rather than over-correction and make that distinction clear in advance.
