Black paint does not necessarily damage more easily than another colour, but it makes fine wash marks, haze and holograms especially visible in direct light.

Start with the wash process

Loose dirt needs to be removed before contact washing, using clean tools and enough lubrication. A poor hand wash can mark paint just as readily as an unsuitable automated wash.

Correct under controlled light

After decontamination, the finish is inspected for wash marks, resin, previous polishing trails and deeper scratches. A test area establishes the least aggressive combination that produces the required improvement.

Dark paint must be refined cleanly after defect removal. Residual polishing oil can temporarily hide haze, so the final inspection should reveal the true finish.

Preserve rather than repeatedly correct

There is no sound rule that every black car should be polished once a year. Correction removes paint; the interval should follow its condition. Careful maintenance and suitable protection reduce the need for repeat polishing.
