Hand polishing is sometimes described as automatically gentler than machine polishing. In practice, safety depends on the product, pressure, surface and objective rather than the absence of a machine.

Suitable uses

Hand application can work well for small areas, intricate shapes, sensitive edges and mild paint enhancement. It may also apply a glaze, wax or cleaner where defect removal is not the goal.

Limits of hand correction

Consistent correction across a full vehicle is difficult by hand. A well-controlled dual-action or rotary process can produce a more measurable result when the paint and technician permit it.

AVP inspects classic, modern and repaired paint before choosing the method. Age alone does not make hand polishing correct, and new paint does not need polishing simply for protection.

Correction and protection are specified as separate steps so that gloss is not confused with a fixed durability promise.
