A colour change, branding project or damaged finish can lead to the same question: wrap or repaint? The two processes solve different problems.

When vinyl makes sense

Colour-change and partial wraps create a removable visual treatment over sound paint. Transparent paint-protection film is a separate, thicker system designed for selected impact areas, while vehicle graphics serve branding and information.

Film cannot hide unstable clear coat, corrosion, deep chips or poor previous repairs. Those conditions need correction before wrapping, and removal may still affect a weak substrate.

When paint makes sense

Refinishing repairs damaged panels and creates a permanent new coating system. It requires appropriate preparation, primer, colour and clear coat according to the repair.

Paint is usually the cleaner route where the substrate itself is damaged or an exact long-term finish is required. Wrap is useful where reversibility, graphics or a temporary colour change matter.

Durability and care

Film life varies with product, installation, colour, exposure and maintenance; there is no universal six- or eight-year rule. Paint durability likewise depends on preparation and use.

Window film and exterior modifications must comply with current Swiss requirements and use approved products. The installer should confirm the permitted configuration for the specific vehicle.
