Do not power up a flooded vehicle casually

Water can affect wiring, control modules, restraint systems, insulation, corrosion protection and, in electric or hybrid vehicles, high-voltage components. Follow recovery, insurer and manufacturer guidance before starting or moving it.

Establish the water source and level

Rain ingress, clean water and contaminated flood water present different risks. A qualified workshop should document the extent and decide which trim can be removed, dried or must be replaced.

Drying does not certify safety or hygiene

Controlled drying can save some materials when started promptly. It cannot guarantee that hidden electronics, foam, insulation or contamination are safe.

Odour treatment follows source removal and full drying; it does not make a water-damaged vehicle sterile. Glass coating can affect rain behaviour but cannot prevent water ingress.
