Understanding a car-coating warranty
An older AVP article described fixed coating lifetimes and free reapplication if performance ended early. A current warranty needs more precision.
Identify what is guaranteed
Gloss, water behaviour, chemical resistance and coating presence are different measures. The document should state which one is covered, for how long and how it will be assessed.
Record owner obligations
Approved washing, inspection intervals, contamination removal and repair procedures may affect coverage. Exclusions for impact, abrasion, neglect and refinishing should be explicit.
Define the remedy
Inspection, local repair, refresh and full reapplication are not the same response. A warranty should state who decides and what costs remain.
The historic 4.5-year ceramic and unconditional free-reapplication claims are not treated as current terms without a named product and written agreement.
