Visible exhaust tips contribute to the rear view of many performance cars. Their treatment depends on whether the surface is polished metal, chrome-plated, coated, painted or merely a decorative trim.

Clean before abrading

AVP removes loose road film and carbon residue with compatible chemistry first. Mechanical polishing is considered only after the finish and remaining material are understood.

Abrasive paper is not a default step: it can remove plating, alter a brushed texture or leave scratches that are difficult to refine. A discreet test area and progressively mild method are safer.

Know what cannot be polished away

Pitting, failed plating, corrosion and heat-discoloured coatings may require refinishing or replacement. The goal is an even, clean result without promising that every exhaust tip will return to new condition.
