Many modern headlamp lenses are polycarbonate rather than glass. UV exposure and abrasion can degrade their protective surface, leaving it yellowed or cloudy.

Toothpaste is not a repair system

Glass cleaner removes dirt but not failed lens coating. Toothpaste may abrade the surface unevenly and does not refill cracks or restore durable UV protection.

Restore only where appropriate

A professional process masks adjacent paint, assesses damage and progressively corrects the outer surface. The lens then needs a compatible UV-protective finish; polishing without protection can lead to rapid deterioration.

Removal is not always necessary and can introduce alignment or sealing risks. Internal haze, cracking, moisture ingress, damaged reflectors or a non-compliant light pattern may require diagnosis or replacement instead.

Because headlamp performance is safety-relevant, the result should be checked rather than judged on appearance alone.
