Removing colour transfer from leather
Colour from denim and other materials can transfer onto light automotive leather. The longer it remains, the greater the chance that it stains the protective coating.
Start with the correct cleaner
AVP identifies whether the surface is leather or synthetic, removes loose grit and tests a purpose-made cleaner in an inconspicuous area.
Minimal moisture and gentle agitation are preferable to scrubbing. If ordinary cleaning does not work, an approved stronger product or local coating repair may be required.
Do not polish away the finish
Abrasive “leather polish” can remove pigmentation and protective coating along with the mark. That is repair, not routine cleaning, and must be controlled accordingly.
Prompt treatment improves the result, but no process removes every transfer from every leather type or household item.
