Preparing and equipping for paint polishing
Hand work needs a compatible polish, applicator, clean microfibre and gloves. Machine work adds the correct machine, backing plate and pads.
Work under cover on cool panels with good inspection light. Sun, dust and wind compromise residue control.
Wash and decontaminate before correction. Clay can mar paint and should be used with lubrication only where necessary.
Deep scratches and chips need assessment or repair rather than being polished blindly. Mask sensitive trim and edges.
A conservative test section determines the process; polishing should not be repeated merely for routine “value retention”.
