Film, dust and smearing can reduce contrast in low sun or at night. Work on cool glass in shade and keep moisture away from dashboard electronics.

Interior glass

  1. Remove loose dust with a clean dry towel.
  2. Apply compatible glass cleaner to a cloth rather than flooding the screen.
  3. Work the full area with one towel and buff residue with a second clean towel.
  4. Inspect from different angles and repeat only where film remains.

Nicotine and oily residue may need several clean towels. Abrasive erasers and clay are not routine tools for interior glass because they can affect coatings, film or printed areas.

Exterior glass

Rinse loose grit first, then wash and clean the glass. Soften insects with a compatible product or wet compress rather than newspaper ink or dry scraping.

Clean wiper edges and replace blades that remain damaged or smear. A scraper may be suitable on plain exterior glass when used correctly, but not near tint film, heating elements, sensors or unknown coatings.

Tinted windows

Identify whether tint is integral or applied film. Follow the film manufacturer’s cleaner guidance, avoid ammonia or abrasives where prohibited and use soft towels. Clean to the edge gently; leaving a permanent dirty border is not necessary.

Clear, distortion-free glass is the result to inspect before handover.
