Check the vehicle before departure

Use the service schedule and owner’s manual. Tyres, lights, wipers, screenwash, warning messages and accessible fluid levels are sensible checks; brakes, battery, cooling, faults and overdue service may need AVP’s in-house workshop.

Do not improvise around high-voltage systems or open a hot cooling circuit. A workshop check reduces risk but cannot guarantee a breakdown-free journey.

Secure the load

Place heavy luggage low and against a strong seatback or load barrier. Restrain loose objects so they cannot move under braking or collision.

Keep emergency equipment accessible. Rear visibility requirements vary by vehicle and country; do not add mirrors or obstruct the cabin without checking applicable rules.

Roof boxes and trailers

Stay within vehicle roof load, box load, axle limits and total authorised mass. Secure contents inside a roof box and account for increased height and changed handling.

For a trailer, respect tow rating, trailer mass and specified nose load. Distribute weight according to manufacturer guidance and secure every item against movement or loss.

Adjust driving to the loaded vehicle

Load affects braking, cornering, tyre pressure and sometimes headlamp levelling. Use the vehicle’s loaded-pressure and lighting instructions, leave greater margins and take regular breaks.

Check destination and transit rules

Speed limits, environmental zones, tolls, safety equipment, winter requirements and trailer rules differ by country and can change. Verify current official information for every route before departure.

A clean, technically prepared vehicle supports the journey, but safe loading and rested driving matter more than cosmetic presentation.
