Why consider ceramic protection?

A compatible coating can increase water repellency, make routine contamination easier to remove and support gloss retention on a prepared finish.

It does not make a classic self-cleaning, eliminate wash chemistry, prevent mechanical damage or guarantee value retention. Insects, bird residue and brake dust still need prompt, suitable cleaning.

Originality changes the decision

Original single-stage paint, historic refinishing and fragile details may be better served by a less durable, more easily reversible wax. The coating itself may not alter the vehicle structurally, but preparation and future removal can affect original material.

Polishing is a separate choice

A coating adds gloss but does not correct defects. AVP only polishes where a test section and paint reserve support it. “Never polish again” is not a credible outcome because future correction depends on damage and maintenance.

Do not extend one product to every component

Paint, chrome, polished metal and engine-bay parts need individual product approval. A general ceramic coating should not be applied to hot engine or exhaust components based on broad −70 to 850°C marketing claims.

Agree the maintenance plan

Current product, preparation, curing, storage and washing determine durability. AVP documents what was treated and how it should be maintained.

For some classics ceramic protection is useful; for others a careful wax and preservation-led care plan is the better answer.
