A fabric convertible roof combines an outer textile, structural layers, seams, seals and drainage. Water resistance does not depend on a surface spray alone.

Inspect before protecting

Check for wear, fading, algae, loose seams, damaged seals and blocked drains. A protectant cannot make a torn or structurally leaking roof watertight.

Clean without exhausting the material

Loose dirt is removed gently before compatible cleaner is worked into the textile. Aggressive scrubbing and excessive pressure can disturb fibres or force water into vulnerable areas.

Apply a compatible treatment

Once the roof is fully clean and dry, a manufacturer-compatible fabric protectant can improve water and soil behaviour. Application, curing and maintenance follow the named product rather than a universal two- or three-year interval.

Original classic-car materials deserve especially cautious testing because age and previous treatments may change how the surface reacts.
