Can I apply paint protection myself?
Many consumer waxes and sealants are suitable for careful home application. Read the product instructions first because coverage, working time, temperature and curing differ.
Begin with a thorough wash and decontamination. The surface should be cool, dry and free from residue; direct sun, dust and damp conditions can compromise the finish.
Apply a thin, even layer with the recommended applicator. Work in manageable sections and remove residue within the specified window. Excess pressure does not force “nanoparticles” into the paint and can create marks.
After curing, maintain the vehicle with compatible shampoo, clean wash media and plenty of water. Strong chemicals can shorten durability.
Windscreen products require special care because haze or uneven application affects visibility. They support water behaviour but never justify driving without functional wipers.
Professional application becomes useful when the paint needs machine correction, the product has strict curing requirements or the owner wants controlled lighting and documentation. AVP can advise on the proportionate route.
