Manage heat before it affects concentration

Plan breaks, drink regularly and avoid starting a long trip already fatigued. Ventilate a hot cabin before departure and use air conditioning for comfortable, clear-headed driving.

Convertible occupants still need sun protection. The cabin does not need to be cooled according to a fixed temperature-difference rule; comfort and avoiding extreme settings are practical guides.

Check the vehicle for the journey

Set cold tyre pressures to the vehicle specification, inspect condition and check service fluids according to the manual. Do not open a hot cooling system.

Unusual air-conditioning noise, odour or weak output needs diagnosis. Disinfection is not an automatic part of every service, and refrigerant work requires appropriate equipment.

Park safely

Never leave a child or animal in a warm parked vehicle. A partly open window is not adequate protection.

Shade and windscreen screens can reduce solar load. Remove aerosols and heat-sensitive electronics where their instructions require it, then ventilate the cabin before driving.
