Winter preparation, part one: technical checks
Protect visibility
Fill with washer fluid suitable for expected temperatures, check wiper condition and clean the glass inside and out. Winter road film can reduce visibility quickly.
Check tyres against the vehicle guidance
Measure pressure when the tyres are in the condition specified by the handbook and inspect for damage or unusual loss. A significant pressure drop needs professional investigation.
Tread and seasonal suitability matter as much as pressure. Current Swiss recommendations and destination-country rules should guide the tyre choice.
Leave safety-critical systems to qualified technicians
Brake wear cannot be assessed from a casual glance alone. Brake fluid, coolant, oil and battery condition should be checked according to manufacturer procedure.
Never open a hot cooling system, and do not assume one oil-check timing fits every engine. AVP Services can combine a technical winter check with the care work described in part two.
