After polishing, previous protection has usually been removed. Wax, sealant or coating can then be applied to support the refined finish.

Product selection follows paint condition, use, storage and maintenance, not simply vehicle type or badge.

Protection can improve chemical resistance, water behaviour and ease of cleaning. Dirt and scratches remain possible, and prompt maintenance is still required.
