Check the roof before operation

Follow the owner's manual for opening, closing and emergency operation. Stop if the mechanism strains, sits unevenly or shows damaged seals, fabric or joints; lubrication should use only the specified product and points.

Clean according to roof material

Remove loose dirt gently and use a cleaner approved for fabric, vinyl or the specific hard-top finish. Do not assume that cold water alone, a pressure washer or an automatic programme is safe for every roof.

Plastic rear windows scratch easily and need dedicated tools. The roof should be clean and fully dry before folding where the manufacturer requires it.

Protect only after inspection

A compatible fabric protectant may improve water and soil behaviour. It cannot repair failed seams, seals or backing, and it should not be applied on a fixed interval without checking condition.

Treat seats and trim by material

Leather, coated leather, synthetic upholstery and plastics need different products. Avoid universal grease or unsupported heat-reflection claims, and use a correctly fitted sunshade when parked where appropriate.

Load the vehicle safely

Respect payload and roof-storage requirements in the vehicle documentation. External luggage carriers need vehicle-specific approval and correct mounting.
