Winter grit can chip paint, while salt and moisture accelerate corrosion where metal is already exposed. Small orange points may also be removable ferrous fallout rather than rust originating in the panel.

Repair damage before covering it

AVP washes and decontaminates the finish, then distinguishes bonded fallout from chips, scratches and active corrosion. Exposed damage may need touch-up or body repair before protection is applied.

What a coating can do

A suitable wax, sealant or ceramic coating can make winter contamination easier to remove and support gloss retention. It does not stop stones, prevent scratches or make salt unable to settle on the vehicle.

Regular, gentle washing remains important. Paint protection can be coordinated with an inspection of wheel housings and underbody areas for a more complete winter preparation.
