Winter road salt and wet debris can remain in seams, wheel housings and underbody areas. Existing stone-chip damage or failed protection can then accelerate corrosion.

Inspect before applying protection

The underbody should be safely raised and checked for corrosion, leaks, damaged panels, blocked drains and loose existing coatings. Covering active rust or moisture can hide rather than solve the problem.

Cleaning and full drying come before any compatible wax or corrosion-protection product. Brakes, exhaust components, sensors, rubber and service points must remain free of inappropriate coating.

Maintenance remains necessary

No treatment creates a surface to which salt can never adhere. Periodic inspection and sensible underbody rinsing remain important, especially after winter.

Current underbody work should be agreed with AVP’s in-house service team after the vehicle has been inspected.
