Winter road salt and moisture reach wheel arches, seams and the underbody. Existing stone chips, damaged coatings and blocked drainage points can make those areas more vulnerable to corrosion.

Start with inspection and cleaning

Remove accumulated salt and dirt with a suitable underbody rinse, then inspect accessible protection, fasteners and exposed metal. Applying new material over contamination or active corrosion can hide rather than solve the problem.

Repair protection where needed

Underbody wax or another approved product may be appropriate after cleaning and preparation. The correct system depends on the vehicle construction, existing factory protection and any manufacturer requirements.

An annual full recoating is not automatically necessary. Regular cleaning and condition-based repairs provide a clearer maintenance plan.
