Paint sealing: systems and process
What a coating actually is
A paint coating is a transparent protective layer applied to the paint to make it more resistant to environmental influences, dirt and mechanical load. Where conventional waxes last only a few weeks, a coating forms a markedly more stable and longer-lasting barrier.
The most important difference, though, is not durability but the nature of the bond. A wax sits on the paint. A high-quality coating forms a firm bond with it. That is also why it cannot simply be washed off and has to be removed mechanically.

The systems at a glance
We do not work with one product but with several systems, because requirements and budgets differ. The main differences lie in durability, hardness and preparation effort.
Paint preservation lasts around three to six months. It is the right choice when existing protection needs refreshing, or when a car will change hands soon anyway.
Nano coating sits at twelve to twenty-four months. It produces a lotus effect and noticeably reduces cleaning effort, without the work a ceramic coating involves.
Titanium coating reaches up to eighteen months and is matched to modern, soft clear coats.
Acrylic coating comes in two systems, with up to thirty-six and up to forty-eight months of protection against salt, UV and industrial fallout.
Liquid glass holds three to five years and forms a particularly smooth, glass-like surface.
Ceramic coating is the most durable standard system for premium care, because it forms a hard, glass-like layer that carries the paint for years.
Specialist long-term protection combines acrylic, carbon and PTFE components in a multi-day process and is carried out with a written guarantee of up to ten years. It is the strongest build-up we offer.
And how does that differ from wax?
Considerably. Wax gives good gloss and modest protection for a few weeks. A ceramic coating gives very high protective effect, clear scratch resistance, high chemical resistance and low care effort over years. For modern car care, wax is an interim measure rather than a protective system.
How a ceramic coating works
Ceramic coatings are based on silicon dioxide or silicon carbide. These react chemically with the clear coat and form an extremely hard, dense protective layer. The coating does not merely sit on the surface; it forms a firm bond with the paint.
From that come six properties that matter in practice: water beads strongly, the layer resists salt, acids, insects and bird droppings, it protects against UV and therefore against fading and oxidation, it reduces micro scratches, it deepens the gloss, and it repels dirt so the car stays clean longer.
Why preparation decides the result
A high-quality coating is not a product you simply apply. Preparation is the most important part, and it accounts for the greater share of the working time. The sequence has five steps:
Thorough pre-wash. Decontamination of industrial fallout, tar and sap. Machine polishing to even out the surface. Degreasing the paint so nothing sits between paint and layer. And only then applying the coating under controlled conditions.
Mistakes in preparation mean the coating does not adhere properly or works unevenly. Worse still: it preserves the condition it finds. Putting wash marks and fallout under a ceramic layer locks both in for years. That is why an assessment of the paint comes first, not the choice of product.
How long does it take?
Coatings need curing time, and that cannot be shortened without weakening the result. As a rule the car stays with us for several days, and correspondingly longer for the specialist coating. That is why we do not carry out this work on site but in the workshop, with a constant temperature and controlled light.
Not only the paint
A car consists of several surfaces with different requirements. Wheel protection reduces brake dust baking on and makes cleaning considerably easier. Glass protection improves visibility in rain, because water runs off by itself above a certain speed. And interior protection shields leather and textile from dye transfer and stains.
Which vehicles this pays for
Most clearly for new cars, because the paint is fresh and needs no correction. That is the cheapest form of protection there is, and the reason new car preservation is a topic of its own.
Equally for leased cars, because a coating reduces damage and wear and saves cost directly at return. For used cars before a sale, for premium cars, for daily drivers meant to stay looking good, for cars kept outside, and for anyone who regularly uses wash installations.
Care after the coating
For the protection to carry, little is needed but it has to be the right thing: pH-neutral shampoos, no aggressive cleaners, regular hand washing rather than a brush installation, care products suitable for ceramic, and an annual check. When water no longer beads, a refresh is usually enough instead of a full rebuild.
One point is often overlooked: a coated car must not be polished, because polishing removes the layer mechanically.
In summary
A paint coating gives maximum protection, deep gloss, less care effort and long-term value retention. Two things decide the outcome: the system has to suit the car and its use, and the preparation has to be right. Everything else follows from that.
