Paint sealants and ceramic coatings are extremely thin. They can improve chemical resistance and ease of cleaning, but they do not have the thickness or elasticity needed to absorb stone impacts.

Use impact protection for impact risk

Paint-protection film is designed to provide a sacrificial physical layer on vulnerable areas. Even film has limits and must be selected, installed and maintained correctly.

Wheel arches may use liners or durable protective coatings specified for that environment; ordinary paint sealant is not a substitute.

Repair chips promptly

Existing chips should be cleaned and assessed for touch-up or paint repair, especially where metal is exposed. Coating over them does not reverse the damage.
