Prepare your car for winter
Tyres and lighting
Use tyres suitable for expected conditions and inspect tread, pressure and damage. Check exterior lights and have alignment or faults corrected professionally.
Fluids and wipers
Use coolant and washer fluid specified for the vehicle and expected temperature. Replace damaged wipers and never operate them while frozen to the glass.
Seals and locks
Clean and dry seals, then use only manufacturer-compatible care products. Do not tape locks or apply universal oils, silicone or petroleum products without approval.
Battery and underbody
Have weak starting, warnings or battery concerns tested before cold weather. Clean winter contamination from accessible underbody areas and repair damaged protection after inspection rather than coating over dirt or corrosion.
Cabin moisture and equipment
Dry mats, remove wet items and investigate persistent condensation. Store the scraper, brush and emergency equipment securely so they cannot obstruct pedals or become loose in a collision.
Wash frequency follows use and contamination rather than a rigid two-week interval.
