When it makes sense to polish your car before winter
Car polishing is often associated with summer weather and extra gloss. Autumn can also be a good time to consider it. Road salt, moisture and grime will settle on the paint in the coming months, and the car may need washing more often. The condition of the surface determines whether polishing before winter is worthwhile.
What polishing can achieve before winter
We clean the paint thoroughly first. This makes it easier to distinguish light wash marks and weathered areas from deeper damage. Professional paint correction can reduce suitable surface marks and smooth the finish. Deep scratches and open stone chips are assessed separately.
Plan for protection at the same time
Polishing prepares the surface for suitable paint protection. Salt residue and road grime adhere less readily to a protected finish and are easier to remove at the next wash. If the paint is already in good condition, refreshing its existing protection may be enough.
Whether you can wait until spring depends on the vehicle. If the paint already needs correction, autumn gives you a chance to protect it in the same appointment before winter. At AVP, we assess the car first and recommend work that suits the way you use it.
