Winter is not automatically the cheapest time to buy or the best time to sell. Availability, model cycles, demand and the individual vehicle matter more than a fixed seasonal rule.

Inspect beyond the purchase price

Budget for insurance, taxes, tyres, maintenance, energy or fuel and foreseeable repairs. Check the service history, cold-start behaviour where relevant, battery condition, heating, demisting and winter equipment.

Salt and poor weather can hide paint condition. A clean, dry inspection under useful lighting makes chips, corrosion and previous repairs easier to judge.

Washing in low temperatures

Use a facility and process suitable for the conditions. Dry door shuts and seals, and follow vehicle-specific guidance so that water does not freeze around locks or mechanisms.

Presenting a vehicle for sale

Clean the vehicle, photograph it in clear neutral surroundings and show the exterior, interior, wheels, boot and relevant details. Disclose known damage and repairs rather than framing the listing around cosmetic perfection.

Professional preparation can improve presentation; it cannot establish the market value or replace a technical inspection.
