Begin with the stored vehicle, not the roof

Follow the owner’s manual and storage procedure when reconnecting or charging the battery. Modern vehicles, classic electrical systems and high-voltage cars require different precautions.

Before starting, check beneath the car for leaks and verify engine oil, coolant and tyre pressure using the manufacturer’s instructions. Do not open a hot cooling system or repeatedly crank an engine that will not start.

Inspect before the first drive

Check tyres, lights, warning messages and accessible wiring for visible damage. Surface rust can form on brake discs during storage, but reduced braking, persistent noise or heavy corrosion needs workshop assessment before road use.

Clean the roof by material

Fabric, vinyl, painted folding panels and plastic windows need different products. Loose residue is removed first, followed by a mild compatible cleaner and soft agitation where permitted.

Avoid close high-pressure contact with seams, seals and aged material. Do not fold a fabric roof while it remains wet, and keep wax, oil and inappropriate dressing away from the textile.

Check drains, seals and operation

Inspect accessible drains and seals for contamination. Roof movement should be smooth and free of obstruction; stiffness, misalignment or corrosion belongs with a convertible-roof specialist.

Do not tighten bolts or lubricate mechanisms without the correct service information. The wrong lubricant can damage plastics or attract contamination.

Plastic windows and faded fabric

Flexible plastic windows can sometimes be improved with a product designed for that exact material, using minimal pressure. Deep creases, cracks or brittle material will remain.

Roof recolouring and tear repair require compatible professional systems. A trimmer can advise whether local repair or replacement best preserves weatherproofing and structure.

Finish with paint and interior care

After the technical check, AVP can hand wash the vehicle, inspect paint for measured correction and clean the cabin by material. Protection is selected according to the finish rather than automatically adding polish and wax.
