2. Greater chemical resistance: the sacrificial layer can reduce direct exposure to detergents, weather and some environmental residue. Prompt cleaning is still necessary.

3. Preservation of the finish: suitable protection can help retain gloss and clarity between maintenance appointments.

These benefits are sometimes overstated. Sealant cannot make paint scratch-proof, stop damage from branches or animals, or prevent every effect of sunlight.
